Ballymun Lifts Back Running

Last Friday, the Army arrived in Ballymun to begin fixing the lifts. They will remain there fixing and maintaining the lifts until June, when a new contractor will be appointed to service the lifts. As good as this news is, sadly it took 12 weeks for this to happen. In my opinion the army could have been called in much earlier than this. The people of Ballymun should not have been allowed suffer for so long.

  1. Dear John .I know you were told that the lifts were been fixed but am telling you its a lie. I live in the first block in balbutcher lane and there is no sign of the lifts been fixed. We done a protest 2 weeks ago on Fri 23 April. We had a meeting with DCC area manager plus Mry plus Donal. The area manager promised to get the Tower lift fixed by 3pm that day .They did this, and promised to fix ours by the end of the following week...ZERO has happened..We now know that a vidio was been made about the tower on monday just gone thats the only reason they fixed there lift....as far as i am concerned DCC ARE LIERS...it is true they are going to leave us with no lifts...I live on the 7th floor this means i have to go 9 flights up...my knee is now starting to play up and am also attending the doctor for this....I have asked to speak to Donal and he refuses to meet with me .It seems to me that if you are a violent junkie or cause anti social behavior you get better treated by DCC.they have no time for people like me who pays there rent on time and just goes about my bussiness......Who do we turn to now John?

  2. TEEU can continue its pickets at Ballymun
    10 June 2010
IN AN important judgment with implications for industrial relations disputes, the High Court says electricians union the TEEU may place pickets outside flats in Ballymun. This arises from a five-month industrial dispute which has left most of the flats without working lifts.

"The company made over €830,000 profit last year for its two directors so it cannot claim inability to pay", he added. The Labour Court issued a recommendation to settle the dispute earlier this month which was accepted by the TEEU, but not by Pickerings, which refused to attend the proceedings.

DCC should be looking to all the other government contracts Pickerings lifts have and change to a lift comany that employes qualified experienced engineers who have TEEU membership and companies that will stand by agreements made years ago.Pickerings lifts have not in any way tried to resolve this problem Mr C Brennan of Pickerings should wake up to the fact that this is 2010 and not the dark ages and show some respect to the engineers who have helped to build the company up over the many years through hard work.
