DCC Water Restrictions (as of 13.00 Wednesday 12th January 2011)

The water supply situation continues to improve and drinking water storage levels have recovered sufficiently to allow an easing of the restrictions.

Areas subject to ‘shut offs’ will now be rotated with supply being maintained one night in three. The period for shuts continues at 7pm to 7am. Areas subject to ‘Pressure reductions with possible loss of supply’ will also have the restrictions eased, as a result the number of areas loosing supply will reduce and the periods of low pressures will also reduce.

Broken mains are being found and fixed and this is helping to improve the situation. Many of these have been reported by members of the public and we ask that people continue to assist us in this regard (contact details are given below), as well as by reducing their consumption of water in every possible way. Updated details of the restrictions through to Saturday (15th Jan) morning are set out below.

The restrictions are being reviewed on an ongoing basis and alterations are made where possible so as to minimise the impact on consumers.

A large number of internal leaks have already been identified on properties; we would ask all property owners to check for leaks on their property as soon as is possible, bearing in mind that some leaks may not be visible.

Dublin City Council appeals to the owners/operators of car washes which use mains water to discontinue their use for the duration of the current water supply crisis. Similarly, we ask owners of private cars to refrain from washing them for the moment.

Tankers have been sent to the following locations Wednesday 12th January 2011

• Griffith Ave

• Crumlin

• Serpentine Ave, Sandymount.

These locations may change in response to need. We would ask consumers to bring their own containers.

The Civil Defence are providing invaluable assistance in dealing with nursing homes, hospitals and other vulnerable consumers.

The following locations may experience loss of supply due to localised problems.
